Foundations of Outdoor and Holistic Learning
This course is new for 2020 and is designed for those wanting to engage children and young people in outdoor learning from a school field or similar environment. The program is designed to equip educators with the necessary skills and understanding to discern individual differences and to be able to deliver a program which meets the needs of the individual.
This training can act as a stand alone module or can act as a foundation to our other courses, such as the Beach or Forest School Leadership training.
ABOUT THE COURSE
The course is divided in one of two ways:
(either over 6 days training or 12 half days)
The course provides training in the following areas:
Safe fire lighting and outdoor cooking
Tool safety (including knives, saws and axes)
Rope work and shelter building
Personality profiling and understanding individual differences
Hoilistic learning approaches

2. Post Training Experience (for stand alone training only)
Timescale: 8 - 12 weeks.
As part of the stand alone course you will be expected to do a number of assignments designed to equip you in your role (if you are using this as a springboard to the Beach School or Forest School L3 programmes this does not apply). This work can be submitted through our online system and you will be given help, advice and feedback where needed. You will also be expected to gain experience assisting in running outdoor learning sessions. This can either be done through an existing contact you may have or we will assist in linking you up with an existing provider.
